On Demand Imagery Solutions (ODIS) is the culmination of a hobby interest and a professional expertise offered by its initiator, Greg Lewis. Greg starting flying remote controlled airplanes more than 15 years ago and has acquired a great amount of experience in image processing, remote sensing and GIS applications through his professional career. He has been involved with a number of projects, most recently as the chief researcher in a remote sensing project looking at forest cover change for a 2.1 million hectares study area for a ten year period for an area. This project was a partnership between three private industry organizations and a community college, of which Greg is a faculty member.

      The seed of ODIS was planted when Greg was working on completing his degree in geography. As mentioned earilier Greg, an avid remote controlled airplane hobbyist immediately identified the flexibility an R/C airplane would make and the unique opportunity that it could have for aerial photography and remote sensing. The idea of using R/C place took root in September of 2003, when Greg discovered MicroPilot and Crop Cam who were, to his amazement, located in Stoney Mountain. ODIS has aligned themselves as technical consultants for CropCam and are proud to be strategic business partners.

     With the alliance with CropCam in order, ODIS will officially begin to acquire imagery starting in the spring of 2006. The beginning of this season will be used to work with a few selective clients around southern Manitoba perfecting the image acquisition process. It is hoped to have a fully functional and commercially available solution for the beginning of June.
